We needed some Ambassadors to help spread the word about our charity and were keen supporters of our goals. It was an easy choice and we are immensely graetful that they have agreed to support Phrenix.
Stuart has an abundance of experience and involvement in sport, as well as a career in education. Stuart has been around the surfing scene for decades amd gave Josh his first real commission for a Bore Rider Surfboard. They became friends from that day onwards and Josh has always sought advice and guidance from Stuart.
Benni and Josh shared a house in Falmouth when they were both studying Marine Sports Science. Their friendship was special. Since Josh passed, not a month goes by without Benni contacting the family to see if we are OK. Benni works with children with Special Educationl Needs (SEN) and was a perfect choice to become one of our Ambassadors.
Here are their short Bios:
I trained as a PE teacher and, in later years, ran a Sports College in Somerset working to develop sporting opportunities for young people. I was also a School Improvement Officer for OFSTED. Alongside this, I was an International Sprinter in 1970/80’s and was also National Coach for Surfing in U.K, establishing the UK’s first Surf School.
During my Sporting Career I worked in the media spending time working for Sky, Nat Geo, BBC(during the Balkans conflict) as well as ITV and French TV.
I held a World Record for the longest ride on the Severn Bore in 80’s and was the first person to ride The Silver Dragon Tidal Bore in China in 1988. I am also a qualified Ski Instructor.
So, a life in Sport.
I agreed to be an ambassador for Phrenix because although I only knew Josh for a few short years, he was a talented and inspirational young man. I feel that he had so much to give to the World and if I can do just one small thing to maintain his passion for sport then this is it.
Hi all! My name is Ben (Bennie) Tun Pe. I am a graduate of Falmouth Marine School and Plymouth University.
I studied Applied Marine Sports Science along with Josh and I focused my dissertation on "The Benefits of Surfing for Autistic Children". I currently work as a Teacher within an SEN school in Dorset.
I'm absolutely psyched to be a part of the Phrenix team, sharing my love and passion for surfing and the ocean, with those who need it the most.
